Built in the 11th century by the Lord of Wilfrid de Virieu, then expanded and redesigned until the 18th century, Virieu Castle, overlooking the Valley of the Bourbre has retained its medieval fortress-like appearance. Evidenced by its imposing keep, its towers and its magnificent studded front door.
Once crossed, we discover successively the cour d'honneur and its guns offered by Louis XIII in 1622, the Chapel and his way of the cross, carved, as well as of great rooms furnished like the great Hall, the King's room, white room , and the old kitchen decorated with a monumental fireplace...
At the foot of the Castle Gardens at the French, ornate arabesques plant and green squares, complete the visit.

The castle is open to the public from 14 hours to 18 hours:-from 1 March to 1 November on weekend and holidays.
-in July and August every day except Monday the visits are guided: 14: 30 to 15: 30 - 16: 30 to 17: 30 groups: on reservation from 9 to 18 hours from March 1 to November 1.
