Château d'Urtubie

64122, Urrugne
  • Guest house

  • Visitable

Belonging to the same family since its construction in 1341, this fortified castle, located on the Basque coast, was enlarged in the sixteenth and eighteenth centuries to become today a very welcoming Historical Monument, furnished and decorated with refinement.

The stones of Urtubie tell six centuries of the history of the Basque Country. King Louis XI stayed there in 1463 and Louis XIV established the estate as a viscount in 1654. In the 19th century, Soult then Wellington spent there during the Napoleonic wars.

Château d'Urtubie has a park with flowers in spring and summer.
