Introduction

10 minutes from Chinon, 45 minutes from Tours, the Château du Rivau has a silhouette of a child's drawing castle.

Visited by Joan of Arc and quoted by Rabelais, the site consists of the castle, both fortress and large manor house of the thirteenth and fifteenth centuries richly furnished, with its imposing keep, turrets and drawbridge.

The royal stables of the Renaissance period (where were raised the war horses of the Kings of France) and the press are arranged around the forecourt. The 14 enchanting gardens, classified Garden Remarkable and labeled conservatory scented roses, complete this unique set in the Loire Valley.
