Historical monument of the 12th and 15th centuries and historic gardens.
After 30 years of careful restoration this fortified rural set opens to the visit. Gardens recreated, with the help of historians, are a showcase for these old buildings in the middle of the vineyards of Anjou.
History and famous characters
The castle of Villeneuve is a classic of fortified rural habitat of the 15th century. It consists of a logis seigneurial with stair tower off work surrounded by press, Chapel, stables and farm buildings, housing of servants, fled to pigeons. Blind facades form a protection and allows access only by a carriage door and a pedestrian door. The family who owned it until the 17th was one of the oldest in Anjou. Transformed into a farm in the eighteenth it belonged to the Besnardiere Boreau, Mayor of Angers. Its buildings fell into disrepair have been patiently restored and are today surrounded by gardens created in a historical taste.
My castle is visitable
From 1 April to 30 July and from 1 September to 30 October. Every day except Saturday and Sunday. From 8 h to 12 h and from 14 h to 17 h. free entry to the children and school children. €4.50 for adults. Booklet of visit (ext).
