In the heart of the Loire Valley, and the golden triangle of the castles of the Loire - Chambord, Blois, Cheverny - the castle of Grotteaux, the smallest of the great castles, has been renovated and has just opened in an exceptional setting.
It welcomes you in a haven of peace, in the middle of a park with secular trees, crossed by the river Cosson.
You want to spend an unforgettable holiday or organize a seminar, a wedding or any other type of event, we organize your stay according to your wishes.
The castle today
In the park, on the right bank of the Cosson, the presence of the menhir Grotteaux attests to a very old human presence.
The current castle was built in 1620 by Guillaume Ribier on older foundations as evidenced by the beautiful vaulted cellars.
King Louis XIII particularly appreciated this high magistrate Blaisois, deputy of the Third.
He offered him a ministerial post three times, notably during a visit to the Grotteaux with Richelieu when he returned from the siege of La Rochelle in 1628.
