My castle is visitable
The castle garden of La Batisse is the largest in Puy-de-Dôme. Château de La Batisse is surrounded by French gardens designed by LE NÔTRE school, which spread over 9 hectares. They are restored from year to year by the owners of the place.
These gardens are classified "Remarkable Garden".
Upon the acquisition of the castle by the GIRARD family of CHASTEAUNEUF, at the end of the seventeenth century, the castle was modified in the style of the time and provided with a terraced garden, classical style, perfect harmony, embellished with boxwood and birch embroidery.
At La Batisse water plays a prominent role. Located at the edge of the Auzon, which runs along the entire area for 1800 meters, La Batisse is the only real water garden of the Massif Central. A dam captures the water and brings it into a Béal (Auvergnat name), which is a small uncovered canal opening into a water tower above the property, and by gravitation, the water arrives in the basins.
