Nous sommes extrêmement ravis de notre séjour au Château de Montardy. Les propriétaires sont charmants et le lieu fabuleux.
Nous recommandons ce château vivement.
DESCRIPTION OF THE CHATEAU
Often compared to a Château de la Loire, the Château de Montardy is a real architectural exception in the land of the castles of Périgord. Originally from the 14Th century, it has been able to retain all its authenticity, both in its architecture and in its layout. The typical 18th style décor has been tastefully preserved and will allow you to sleep in period canopy beds.
Located in one of the two wings, the reserartion of the room includes a four-poster bed (140) and a private bathroom.
HISTORY
The Château de Montardy belongs to the family of the LAU of Allemans since 1427. Its origin dates back to the 14Th century. Feudal Castle, it was transformed over the centuries until the sixteenth century.
The castle was the favorite place for great men of history such as King Edwars VII who came to spend his holidays there and Hunt (as a friend). Peter Shaffer was also an iconic character who came to stay several times at the Castle. All his plays, including "Amadeus", were written at the Château de Montardy.
Finally, Proust speaks of the Marquis of the LAU of Allemans and his family in several volumes of his famous book: "in search of lost time".
Gardens
Located in Périgord Vert, the Castle dominates a splendid Valley spanning several kilometers. It is on the edge of a park of centenary trees and surrounded by a property of 300 hectares.
A period drawbridge separates the living room from the garden and overlooks a large terrace. A large outdoor table with chairs and a parasol as well as a barbecue are provided. Further away, sheltered from the looks is a large secure pool with sun loungers to relax.
region
The Dordogne, a former province of Périgord, enjoys a particularly temperate climate that makes it a pleasant region to live in all seasons and a privileged destination for a successful holiday.
Between Brantôme, the Venice of Périgord, Périgueux, the capital which reveals its 2000 years of history and the regional natural park Périgord Limousin, the region does not lack of things to do. Visitors also delight in gourmet visits around the truffle, foie gras or Apple.
Activities
-The castle is equipped with a ping-pong and a table football, for the big competitors.
-Passionate about hunting and international ball trap champion, the son of the owners offers courses and shooting trips,
-Discover all the customs of the French aristocratic life during a French education course taught by the owner in person.
-Organize an atypical dinner in a hidden kitchen of the Castle, dating from the 15Th century (a local chef comes to cook in front of the customers of the local products).
-Descend the Dronne by canoe to discover the Périgord otherwise. (6 km away, a Canoe-Kayak Club of organized circuits. The Dronne winds the North-West quarter of the Périgord in a changing mood. This River touches several castles including Saint-front, Pommier, Vaugoubert, La Hierce, Ramefort, Bourdeilles and authentic villages such as Brantôme or Bourdeilles).
-Discover the Dordogne on horseback (8 km away, an Equestrian Club offers horse rides).
-Play golf between cliffs and rivers or between forests and vineyards. (The golf of Périgueux and the golf of Angoulême, at a 30s of km offer a pleasant moment of relaxation on the Greens).
