Often compared to a castle in the Loire, the Château de Montardy is a real architectural exception in the country of the castles of Périgord. Originating from the fourteenth century, it has kept all its authenticity, both in its architecture and in its layout. The 18th century style decoration has been tastefully preserved and will allow you to sleep in vintage four-poster beds.

Located in one of the two wings, on the second floor of the castle, the suite consists of two rooms:
– Chinese room with twin bed (160)
– Matisse room with twin bed (160)
– a private bathroom on the landing.

Montardy Castle belongs to the LAU family of Allemans since 1427. Its origin dates back to the 14th century. Feudal castle, it was transformed during the centuries until XVIe.

The castle was the favorite place of great men of history such as King Edwars VII who came to spend his holidays there and hunt (friend). Peter Shaffer was also an iconic character who came to the castle several times. All his plays, including "Amadeus", were written at the Château de Montardy.

Finally, Proust speaks of the Marquis du Lau d’Allemans and his family in several volumes of his famous book: "In Search of Lost Time".

Located in Green Périgord, the castle overlooks a splendid valley extending over several kilometers. It is on the edge of a park of old trees and surrounded by a property of 300 hectares.

A vintage drawbridge separates the living room from the garden and overlooks a large terrace. A large outdoor table with chairs and a parasol and a barbecue are at your disposal. Further away, secluded is a large, secure pool with sun loungers to relax.

The Dordogne, former province of Périgord, benefits from a particularly temperate climate which makes it a pleasant region to live in all seasons and a privileged destination for successful holidays.

Between Brantôme, the Venice of Périgord, Périgueux, the capital which reveals its 2000 years of history and the Regional Natural Park Périgord Limousin, the region does not miss things to do. Visitors also enjoy gourmet tours around truffles, foie gras or apples.

– The castle is equipped with a ping-pong and a babyfoot, for the big competitors.
– Passionate about hunting and international champion of trap ball, the son of the owners proposes courses and stays of shooting,
– Discover all the habits and customs of French aristocratic life during a French-style education given by the Owner in person.
– Organize an unusual dinner in a hidden kitchen of the castle, dating from the fifteenth century (a local chef comes to cook in front of the customers of local products).
– Go down the Dronne in a canoe to discover Périgord otherwise. (6 km away, a canoe-kayak club organized circuits.) The Dronne winds the quarter north-west of Perigord over a changing mood. This river grazes several castles including Saint-Front, Pommier, Vaugoubert, La Hierce, Ramefort, Bourdeilles and authentic villages like Brantôme or Bourdeilles).
– discover the Dordogne on horseback (8 km away, an equestrian club offers horse riding).
– Play golf between cliffs and rivers or between forests and vineyards. (The Golf of Périgueux and the Gulf of Angoulême, about 30 km offer a pleasant moment of relaxation on the greens).
